What is Porto like to Visit?

I wanted to share my visit to Porto without any pretence. This is not an ultimate guide to Porto, nor is it 25 things you can’t miss in Porto type video. Instead it is a glimpse into this wonderful Portuguese city, and what a visit there might look like.

This video shows what I did for a 3 day visit. For details about what I ate and drank in Porto see my Podcasts and you might also like ro read my review of The Yeatman Hotel

So what is Porto like to visit? In this video I take you through three days in one of Europe’s most characterful cities, from the extraordinary tiled buildings of the historic centre to the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia and out to the Atlantic coast at Foz.

We visit the São Bento train station with its 20,000 hand painted azulejo tiles, the Mercado do Bolhão, the Bishop’s Palace, the cathedral, and the World of Wine complex across the river. We also cycle out to Foz with TT3ways, take a food tour with Taste Porto, and finish with a sunset from the terrace of The Yeatman Hotel.

Porto is a city that rewards slow travel. The tiles, the wine, the food, and the light over the Douro make it one of the most visually compelling cities in Europe.

The bicycle hire was a collaboration with https://www.tt3ways.pt/

The food tour was a collaboration with https://tasteporto.com/

The visit to WOW and Taylors was a collaboration with https://www.wow.pt/en/

I was not paid for these collaborations and they do not affect my independent view point.
